To add a widget, simply drag and drop it into the Footer area and then preview the website to see the effect. If you have multiple footers, then you’ll need to edit them all one by one. Make sure to check the preview before saving.

How to Add Links in Footer:

Since the footer area is versatile, you can even add your desired links. Whether they are redirecting to another site or to any other page of yours. WordPress comes with easy mange those link menus. Head over to the Appearance > Menus page and click on the ‘create new menu’ link.

Once you have entered a name for the new menu. So you can identify in case if you want to make more menus. Then click the “create menu” button and see the changes. Once the menu is ready, you can start adding links to it. That process is simple too, select the categories, pages or posts from the left side and add them to your menu.

Once you are done, click the Save Menu button to save the changes. However, the menu won’t be added automatically to the Widget area. You have to visit Appearance > Widgets and then add the Navigation Menu widget to the footer area. Then click the save button to save all the changes. That way you can create multiple navigate menus as you like. All of them are linking to a different area that you want to show to your audience.

Some themes alter this to their own text and links. You can do the same too and add your own logo or text. Simply go to Themes > Customizer in your WordPress admin. Then search for an option to edit your website footer. Every theme is different but for now, let’s just find Footer > Footer Bar in the customizer. Then you’ll see the option to change the text in the footer bar.

Once you are done adding your own text, you can click the Publish button at the top of the screen to see the changes.

If your theme has no option to edit the footer via the customizer? Then there is one way to do so, it is totally different than the methods we have seen above. In this case, you need to edit the footer.php file. It is a template file stored in your themes folder responsible for displaying the footer area for that particular theme.

Navigate to your hosting and download the /wp-content/themes/yourtheme/footer.php file. Then open that file in any text editor. Then find the line that says “Powered by WordPress”. Delete and change the text and save the file. However, keep a backup of the original file in case if this one won’t work at all.

Once you activate the plugin, navigate to Settings > Insert Headers and Footers in your WordPress Admin. Now copy and paste your footer code into the ‘Scripts in Footer’ box. Once done, click the Save button and move on.
