How to Recover a Lost Password in WordPress


Now, this is something that happens to a lot of users and they just try to get a new account. However, recovering your password is not a difficult thing at all, especially at this age. Where you just have to go through simple taps and your password is given back to you. Even in complicated cases, the max they can ask you is some identity proof. After that, you’ll have the option to either recover your old password or create a new one.

WordPress makes it super easy to recover a password. Just remember the e-mail you used to create the account on WordPress. As long as you know that e-mail address, you can recover the pass anytime. In order to not lose it, make sure to keep it saved in chrome. That way you can always find it in your Google Password list.

How to Recover a Lost Password in WordPress

Let’s say that you have lost your password and now you want to recover it. Then this article is all for you, just follow the steps below and you are good to get your pass back.

First of all, you need to open the WP login page of the site. After that, you’ll see the option of “Lost your password?” on that screen. Click on it.

You’ll be redirected to another page where you’ll be asked to enter the WP Username or the E-mail address.

You can provide either of them but make sure to enter the correct one. That is why I said to remember the email, cuz if you can’t remember the username, the email will save you anytime.

After you have entered a valid username or email address. Press the Get New Password button.

WordPress will send you a link to your email. You’ll also see the “Check your e-mail for the confirmation link” on the top of the login screen.

Check your email and see if you get any notifications from WordPress. If there is nothing in the inbox, then search it in the spam folder. This happens sometimes so there is no need to worry. You’ll see a message like below in your E-mail:

Reset Password Mail

Click on the last link to reset your password. You’ll be redirected to the login screen where you can enter a new password and click on Reset Password. If you are not confident in getting a strong password yourself! Just choose the one in the suggestions and keep it save in Chrome.

Once the password is reset, you’ll get a confirmation “Your password has been reset. Log in“. Congratulations, you have successfully reset your password. Now you can log in again.
